DATTATREYATANTRAM
Oṁ Śrī Gaṇeśāya Namaḥ (Salutation to Lord Gaṇeśa) Dattāttreya told. He told Maheśvara, the lord of lords who is seated on the peak of Kailāśa. He asked Śaṅkara, the lord of welfare of this world. With folded hands, he asked the lord who is compassionate towards his followers. Please explain the Kalpatantra for the sake of welfare of the desciples. In the age of Kali, the Mahākalpa Tantra is very much beneficial, so please tell it as per the way it should be stated. There are many such tantras which have their genesis in the Āgamas, Purāṇas & Vedas enumerated in Dāmara(tantra), Uḍḍīśa(tantra), Merutantra, Kalitantra, Caṇḍeśvaratantra, Rādhātantra, Ucchiśṭatantra, Dhārātantra & Mr̥ḍeśvaratantra etc., where all the tantric vidhis have been enumerated through Yantras, Mantras & various types of Ābhicāra applications. These applications have been closed and made powerless in the kali (Yuga)due to the involvement/engagement of brahmins in infatuation & anger. Therefore, such tantras which have not been made closed and powerless may be enumerated please. O’ lord! compassionately, tell me please such tantras which have the power to provide sudden accomplishment.
Īśvara Told// O’ Mahāyogin ! O’ the one expert in different types of yogic practices ! Listen to the accomplishment of Tantravidyā that is the secret of secrets and goes into deeper and deeper further. The teacher should give it to a devoted disciple and never to a disloyal. Further, he must have an unshaken devotion for Shiva along with an integrated steadiness of mind. One may give his head or a son to someone else but, never the tantrakalpa to anyone unworthy of it.This is stated by Śaṅkara himself and will never be otherwise(11)O’ Dattatreya ! Listen. Henceforth, I will speak on the Mahātantra without which there is no accomplishment in the era of Kali. This will be stated here without any reservations(12). There is no restriction of tithi, nakṣatra, vāsara(day), vratam(vows/fasting), havana or any other use of any time of performance. It is only with the performance of tantra & mantra the medicine becomes accomplished by the application of which a person gets its result in a moment (in a very short time). The vidyās it includes are: Māraṇa, Mohana, stambhana, Vidveṣaṇa, Uccāṭana, Vaśīkaraṇa, Ākarṣaṇa, Indrajāla, Yakṣiṇīsādhana & Rasāyanavidyā (15).
Further, it also includes, Kālajñāna, Anāhāra, Āhāra, Nidhidarshana, Bandhyāputravatīyoga, Mr̥tavatsāsutajīvana, Jayavāda, Vājīkaraṇa, Bhūtagrahanivāraṇa & fear from lion, tiger, serpent & scorpios etc. These are the real targets to address and to get rid from such fears through this tantra and nothing else behind my enumeration. It is also necessary to maintain a high level secrecy very carefully in these regards(16-18). Therefore, the supreme mantra in this regard: “Oṁ Paraṁbrahmaparamātmane Namaḥ utpatisthitipralayakarāya brahmahariharāya triguṇātmane sarvakautukāni darśaya darśaya dattātreyāya namaḥ mantrāṇ isiddhiṁ kuru kuru svāhā”. An accomplishment is possible through one hundred & eight repetitions of this mantra. This is all in Dattātreya Tantra’s dialogue between Īśvara & Dattātreya. Here ends 1st Paṭala in it. //Atha Māraṇam// Īśvara Told: Toxic dharttura dust mixed with citābhasma, if thrown on somebody’s body on Tuesday, he will die soon(1).The powder of human bones packed in a tāmbula(betel), if taken by anybody, will die soon. Accordingly, the powder of serpent’s bone, if thrown on anybody then he will meet his death(2).
Such a person on the door-step of whom a wooden stick from funeral pyre is thrown on the day of Bhauma (i.e Tuesday) that is enjoined with Bharaṇī nakśtra then he will meet to death within a span of one month(3). The collyrium prepared from the wick made of the fat of a black serpent, kindled in night with the oil extracted from dharttura seeds, in a human-skull pot mixed with the powder/dust of funeral; along with the powder of these five salt, if put on someone’s body/limbs, he will die soon(4-5). One must write a pañcadaśīyantra in reverse order and put it in a funeral pyre on Thursday. Done so, his enemy(desired) dies(6). Excreta of an owl mixed with poison may be dried and powdered accordingly to throw it on the body of the enemy so that he dies quickly(7). Placing the excreta of the enemy in a human skull, if put in a hole dug for it on a garden and is covered then as the excreta goes dry, the enemy also slowly goes to meet his death. However, one must not try it for anyone just for fun as Lord Saṇkara strictly restricts(8-9).
The oil extracted from the fat of a chameleon, even a drop of it, if put on anybody, undoubtedly, he will die definitely within a month’s time(10). Here the Mantra: “Oṁ namo kālarūpāya amukaṁ bhasmī kuru kuru svāhā’’. An accomplishment is achieved with an utterance of this mantra for more then eight(108?)times. This is all about the 2nd paṭala called Māraṇa in the dialogue between īśvara & Dattātreya in the text called Dattātreya Tantra. Atha Mohanam. Īśvara Told. On Sunday, if one mixes the crushed Tulsi seeds with the juice of Sahadevī and puts tilaka (on his forehead) then he attracts the entire world(1).The materials like Haritala, Aśvagandhā & Khadira may be pasted together with banana juice alng with gorochana paste and tilaka may be performed accordingly(2). An intelligent may obtain the flowers of Audūmbaras and prepare wicks out of it. Thereafter, he may kindle it with the help of butter to prepare collyrium during night. Such collyrium may be applied as añjana in eyes to attract the whole world but, such a thing should not be given to anyone as stated by Śaṅkara himself(8-9). The roots of brahmadaṇḍī is be pasted in the juice of white guñjā juice and be applied on the whole body to attract the whole world(10).
Pasting the white dūrvā grass in the haritāla if tilaka is made by somebody on his forehead then such a person attracts the three worlds(11). It will help mesmorizing the entire world(18) The oil extracted from the bitter bottle-gourd, is to be used to kindle a cotton wick to prepare collarium that can be applied in the eyes surely to attract everyone(19). “Oṁ parambrahma-paramātmane sarvajana-mohanaṁ kuru kuru svāhā” Iti Śrī Dattātreyatantre īśvaradattātreyasamvāde mohanaṁ nāma tṛtīyaḥ paṭalaḥ//3// Īśvara Uvāca(Īśvara Told). Hereafter, I will speak on the best way for fire-paralyzing. It is not to be given to anyone that is what stated by Śaṅkara himself so, will not be otherwise(1). Collecting the fat of a frog it must be pasted in the aloe vera juice and be applied on the body. Even a small quantity of it will protect the body from fire(2). Taking the extract of an Arka plant(the white essence), it must be pasted in the aloe vera juice and then applied on body. It will protect the body from fire(3).---*pañcāṅgas are: fruit, flower, leaves, skin & root)
Taking the kanda (bulbons) of aloe vera, it must be mixed with banana juice to apply the mix on the body so to prevent it from fire hitting(4). Chewing again & again the admixture of pippalī, pepper & dried ginger(śuṇṭhi), if someone simply puts charcoals in his mouth then his face is never hurt with fire(5). The one whose body is besmeared with the juice of aloe vera, he is not hurt with the fire(6). If someone whose drinks ghee along with jaggery while chewing tagara flower, neither his body nor his face are hurt with fire(7). This is all about the agnistambhanayoga and it will not be otherwise, as stated by Śaṅkara(8). Henceforth, the mantra: “Oṁ namo agnirūpāya mama śarīre stambhanaṁ kuru kuru svāhā” (Aṣṭottarajapet(japāt) siddhiḥ) //Athāsanastambhanam// Collecting the remains from smithyshop, dust along with the blood of a low-born if thrown on someone’s body then he becomes immovable from his place. This is what stated by the experts(1).
This is not to be applied to anyone, as stated by Śaṅkara himself(2). A white guñjā fruit/seed put in the human skull can be nourished with the milk and when grown the the branches and creepers may be collected to put it on somebody’s limbs. Such a person will be paralyzed at one place(3-4). Collecting the the fire from a mortuary a homa is to be performed with salt in the name of the person whom you want to arrest in his place. This is called siddhayoga(5). The mantra is: “Oṁ namo digamvarāya amukam āsamaṁ stambhanaṁ kuru kuru svāhā” Uttering/repeating this mantra for 108 times one can achieve accomplishment. Hence starts Buddhistambhanam. Collecting the escreta of an owl, it must be dried up under the shadow and then be given it to an enemy inside a pawn/betel to arrest the intellect to someone(6).The white mustard is to be pasted/coated in the juice of bhṛṅgarāja and then tilaka is to be applied on forehead to destroy the intellectual capacity of the enemy(7).
Paste is to be made after putting sahadevī & apāmārga together in one of the iron pots and then tilaka is to be put on forehead to arrest the intellect of the enemy(8). Hence Mantra is: “Oṁ namo bhagavate śatrūṇāṁ buddhistambhanaṁ kuru kuru svāhā” // Atha śastrastambhanam// When Puṣyā-nakṣatra is intervened by a Sunday then the Viṣṇukrāntā plant is to be uprooted and the root of it is to be put in the mouth & head. It will also obstruct the weapons of the enemies(10). Binding with the root of Sudarśana on hand, Palm-root in mouth & Ketakī-root on head, one can arrest the sword of enemy(11). If all the three roots mentioned above, are powedered and taken/drunk with ghee then he is never died with weapons(12) such a person can protect the person coming to him with all sort of arms & ammunition by resisting in the battle for day & night making all the weapons of the enemy arrested(13).
Collecting the root of Apāmārga on Puṣyānakṣatra, a lepa(a glue) is to be prepared to apply it on the body. It will protect from all sort of weapons(14). On a Sunday that intervenes Puṣyānakṣatra, the root of white guñjā isto be collected and adorn on the hand. It will protect the person in the war(15). On a Sunday, soft leaves of Bel(bilvapatras)are to be collected and be grinded with poison. Application of such a paste will protect weapons(16). Atha Mantraḥ// “Om aho kumbhakarṇamahārākṣasa-naikaṣāgarbhasambhūta- parasainyastambhana-mahābhagavān rūdrājñāpayati svāhā” Aśṭottaraśataṁ japet(japāt)siddhiḥ // Atha śastralepaḥ// The fruits of Viṣṇukrāntā plant along with the urine of an ass with powedered Dhattūra fruits mixing with Haritālaka, Gandhaka & Manaḥśīlā altogether tablets are to be prepared. Out of that an amount consisting of five taṅkas(a measurement) is to be applied on the weapon someonone uses in the war that will make the furious weapons (of enemies) into pieces(17-19).
Having seen the weapons, the fearful run away from the war field as the weapons start falling in the field like rain and absolutely there exists no fear anywhere(20). The mantra here is: “Om namo vikarālarūpāya mahābala parākramāya amukasya bhujabalaṁ bandhaya bandhaya dṛṣṭiṁ stambhaya stambhaya aṅgāni dhūnaya dhūnaya pātaya mahītale huṁ” By uttering the mantra for one hundred & eight one can get siddhi. Henceforth, Senāstambhana is to be proposed. Along with the mantra one can hold a white guñjā and put it inside the ground of a crematorium by scratching the ground and then a stone is to be put on it. Thereafter, eight Yoginis are to be worshipped. They are: Aindrī, Māheśvarī, Vārāhī, Nārasiṁhī, Vaiṣṇavī, Kumārikā, Lakṣmī, Brāhmī. Then Ganapati & Batuka are to be worshipped along with the kṣetrapālas. Accordingly, bali is to be offered to all of these 12 deities with madya, maṁsa, puṣpa, dhūpa & dīpa to each one of them separately with his/her name(1-4).
It is not to be applied or taught to anybody as stated by Śaṅkara himself.(* The mantra is missing here) By uttering the mantra for 108 (*One hundred is supplied as a convention with the wordings of eight more) times one can get siddhi. //Atha senāpalāyanam// On a Tuesday, one can collect two feathers, one each of a crow and an owl and the mantra along the name of the enemy be written on a bhūrjapatra with these feathers with gorochanā. Binding that on one’s own neck if someone goes in front of the enemies then it is a fact that the enemy runs away from the battle field along with his warriors & elephants etc., just by hearing his sound. This is not otherwise as stated by Śaṅkara himself.(1-3).The mantra Is: “Oṁ Namo bhayaṅkarāya khaḍgadhāriṇe mama śatrusainyapalāyanaṁ kuru kuru svāhā”. One can get siddhi by uttering the mantra by 108 times (* One lakh in other texts). Collecting the powder(bhasma) of/from a crematorium one must smear that on an earthen pot and followed by entangling of a blue rope around it, one must keep that pot in a hole by covering a stone on it.This will make the enemy’s force paralyzed. This is known as a siddhayoga (1-2).
Hence starts the gomahiṣyādistambhana: The bones of a camel are to be buried under the ground around the four directions of the cattles & buffalos etc., to paralyze them. This is known as siddhayoga(1). Taking the hair of a camel it is to be thrown on the animal someone wants it to paralyze and this one is also a siddhayoga(2). After completion of the menstruation, the smoke of neem wood may be received through the whole of the private part and it will not give pain in conception(3).Mantra: Oṁ garbha stambhaya stambhaya. Here ends the 4th Paṭala called Stambhana in Dattātreyatantra.
Hence forth starts Vidveṣaṇa // Iśvara Told: Hence starts Vidveṣaṇa(magical performance to excite hatred). Please listen very carefully the most interesting part of the performance to excite hatred among the gents & ladies, kings & ministers(1). A tablet is to be prepared out of the mixture of the tooth of a serpent, the hair of a mongoose with the clay of crematorium and put in a hole dug in a ground with the name of the enemy along with the utterance of the mantra. It will create a vidveṣa immediately and not otherwise as it is stated by Śaṅkara(7-9) Taking the excreta of a peacock and a tooth of a serpent both of these two must be crossed together and then it must be put on the forehead as a tilaka. This will create a vidveṣa immediately(10). Taking an elephant’s tusk and a tooth of a lion together these are to be crushed/rubbed in butter and tilaka is to be applied with it on forehead. The mantra is as follows: “Oṁ namo nārāyaṇāya amukam amukena saha vidveṣaṁ kuru kuru svāhā” // Iti Śrīdattātreyatantre vidveṣo nāma pañcamaḥ paṭalaḥ//5// //Athoccāṭanaṁ// Īśvara Told: Hence Ucchatana begins: The one who acquired the house, land property, wife, wealth, books is to be dealt throughly with the activity of uccāṭana or killing as the wicked needs punishment(1). A brahmadandi along with white mustard & the ashes of funeral pyre is to be smeared on Lord Shiva’s linga and thereafter, to be thrown on the enemy’s house on a Saturday. Such a person in whose house the paste is to be thrown will have uccāṭana along with his family, relatives & domestic animals. This happens without the application of mantra and it is called siddhayoga. The dust from a donkey’s place is to be lifted with the help of a left foot and to be thrown in the enemy’s house at the time of a midday of a Tuesday. He will have uccāṭana which will give deathlike pain. This can be achieved without the utterance of a mantra. This one is called Siddhayoga(2-5).

The feather of a crow, if put in a hole dug in someone’s house then there will be uccāṭana there in his house. This is stated by Śaṅkara himself and will not be otherwise(7). On a Tuesday, if the feather of an owl is put in a hole dug inside the house of someone then he will have uccāṭana and this can be achieved without the help of any mantra(8). Excreta of an owl be dried and then powdered with mustards. Such dust if thrown on someone’s body then that is very much powerful for sammohana(9). Hence the mantra: “ Oṁ namo bhagavate rudrāya daṅṣṭrā karālāya amukaṁ sa putrabāndhabaiḥ saha hana hana daha daha paca paca śīghramuccāṭaya muccāṭaya huṁ phaṭ svāhā ṭhaḥ ṭhaḥ” (Accomplishment of it by the Utterances of 108 times) // This is all about 6th Paṭala called Uccāṭana in the Dattāttreya Tantra//6// Vaśīkaraṇa commences. Īśvara Uvāca (Told): On a Sunday, a brahmadaṇḍī along with vaca and powder of kuṣṭha together may be placed in a betel and given to some one to bring him under control (1). Mantraḥ: “Oṁ namo sarvalokavaśaṁkarāya kuru kuru svāhā” (Utterance for 108 times) This is all about the 7th chapter, namely, Vaśyakara(ṇa)m in the dialogue between Dattātreya & Īśvara in Dattātreya Tantra. Hence commences here ‘Strīvaśyakaraṇa’: Īśvara Told: On a Sunday, the black Dhattura flower, branch, leaf & root together be pasted together with camphor, kuṁkum & gorochanā together and tilaka is to be applied on forehead to attract the desired one, even if she is Arundhatī herself(1-2). On a Saturday, one must collect the dust/clay beneath the leg of the woman and an idol is to be prepared out of it. Thereafter, the hairs of the lady are to be placed in the right place of the idol and a blue garment is to be covered around it and vermilion is to be put on its forehead and the semen of one’s own be put inside the private part of it.Then it must be buried in a hole dug at the left side of her front door. Brahmadaṇḍī & the ashes from funeral pyre together if thrown on a woman will be attracted towards the person. It will no be otherwise, as it is stated by Saṅkara himself(11). On a Monday that is intervened by a Mṛgaśīrā Nakṣatra, a piece of betel-nut dropped in semen to be given to someone in a betel to attract her(12). By pasting Manaḥśīlā(Red Arsen)along with palm in the juice of betel, tilaka is to be prepared to put it on the forehead of the person who wants to attract the woman(13). On a Sunday, vermilion is to be pasted in a banana and tilaka is to be prepared to put it on the forehead to attract the woman as a true attempt(14). A tooth of a cattle and a tooth of a human being are to be brought together and rubbed together to cross them and be mixed with oil. Preparing tilaka out of it will help in attracing woman as a very good technique(15). The dirt of the penis is to be mixed in food & drink and be served to the woman to be attracted. It is possible without mantra(16). The stick of kuṣṭha plant submerged in one’s own urine is to be given to someone in the betel to attract her. This itself is so powerful that it does not require any mantra. This is called siddhayoga and accomplished without difficulty(18). The powder of yava, turmeric, gomutra, ghee, mustards must be pasted together with the juice of betel. The face must be as like as lotus and the legs should appear as the patals of lotus. Such a person will be dear to all among ladies and among the royals/ aristocrats(19-20). By admixing gorochana and lotus-leaf together, tilaka is to be prepared on a Saturday to apply on forehead to attract the women desired(21). Keeping the Mālatī flower inside a cotton cloth a wick is to be prepared and then with castor oil collyrium is to be prepared in a human skull and it should be applied in both the eyes for the one who wants to attract the women instantly at first sight(22-23). Mantra follows: “Oṁ namaḥ kāmākṣādevī amukāṁ me vaśaṁ karī(kuru) svāhā” (Aṣṭottaraśataṁ japet siddhiḥ)By uttering for 108 times the mantra is accomplished. Here ends the eighth Paṭala, namely, Strīvaśīkaraṇa in the Dattātreyatantra.

This is the 13th chapter called Rasāyana that comprises a part of dialogue between Īśvara & Dattātreya in the Dattātreyatantra. Atha Kālajñānam: Hence forth, starts the knowledge on death timings. O’ Mahāyogin! O’ Dattātreya, the great sage! It is welfare of the human beings the timings of death is clarified. This knowledge is to be given to a person who has faith in guru and never to a wicked one or a stranger, as stated by Śaṅkara himself. The one who can see his nose or whose eye-balls are do not move will within six months even if Īśvara wants protect him. The one whose chest becomes dry at the time of bath, will die within six months. The one who looses his intellect, wisdom and action altogether will die within six-eight months. This truth is never to be doubted. The one whose steps do not stick to the ground, has a less chance of survival and hardly can survive for one month. One can see a Dvādaśadalacakra and see there the time of death. The name of the twelve months are to be written within this along with the twelve rāśis. Thereafter, the janma-nakṣatra along side the janmarāśi is to be seen during this time and it will explain the indication of any death threatning.
If Śani, Rāhu, Maṅgala etc., intervene and r̥kṣabiddhatā & rāśividdhatā are seen within the then the death indication, no doubt, becomes clear in it. If Surya is interveved then tension but friendship by Byudha’s intervening. In case of Guru’s intervining it is a good sign of travelling and by Candra’s intervenining the pleasure of wife & property is seen at place. However, in case of Bhr̥gu’s intervening obtainment of kingdom is at place. This is to be calculated on monthly basis. Thus, calculation of one year with twelve months will tell the details of the death timings. If for a day & night the breathing svara continues in one side then the person will have three years life span further only. If piṅglā continues for the day & night then he will have two years to life for. For a persion for whom it continues for three days & nights, he will have one year further to live and the vāmasvara in night & dakṣiṇasvara in day time continue for one month continuously then he will have death within six months. The one who makes a practice of exercising the left svara in night & right svara in day, he is called a Yogi. Mantra: “Oṁ namo kālarūpāya kālajñānaṁ kuru kuru svāhā” (1000 japet siddhiḥ). (Accomplishment by 1000 utterances). This is all about the 14th Paṭala comprising of the knowledge of Time in the dialogue between Īśvara & Dattātreya in the text of Dattātreyatantra.
